Over the past 50 years, Parkshore has seen significant changes in its core business. Parkshore (and its affiliate Key Construction Co.) started as a home builder, then as a developer of various uses, from shopping centers to indoor tennis courts, and now its concentration is in office developments.

Parkshore Development Corp. was founded in 1955 by Bernard L. Steinberg (1927-1992) in Camden County, New Jersey, where the company built over 1,000 homes in Stratford, Somerdale, Cherry Hill, Laurel Springs and Pennsauken. “Bernie” quickly earned a reputation for integrity and fairness, and was widely respected in the community, from homeowners to subcontractors. Parkshore Development Corp. is now owned and operated by Bernie’s two sons, Richard and Ken, who have continued Parkshore’s emphasis on quality and integrity.

In the 1960’s…

Parkshore began to concentrate on the Jersey Shore, building the “Parkshore” area of Margate and modifying the planned circular street patterns into an exclusive lagoon community. Parkshore also developed Absecon Island’s only beachfront cul-de-sacs, Point Drive in Longport and Dolphin Drive in Margate.

In the 1970’s…

As multi-family housing began gaining popularity in the early 1970’s, Parkshore developed PARKSHORE PLAZA APARTMENTS (56 units) in Somers Point, which were the first multi-family homes in the area with washers, dryers, and fireplaces within each residence. The success of Parkshore Plaza inspired the development of MEADOWBROOK VILLAGE APARTMENTS (144 units) in Mays Landing and GOLFVIEW VILLAGE APARTMENTS (48 units) in Cape May County. At this time, Parkshore also developed GOLFVIEW ESTATES (11 single-family homes) and the area’s first indoor tennis facility, ATLANTIC INDOOR TENNIS, both in Northfield.

Attracted to the charm of Linwood, Parkshore purchased a corner property in this mostly residential community, modifying the approvals for a 7-11 convenience store and gas station into a picture postcard village of shopping and business services, with over 40 unique shops, restaurants and offices. Since then, CENTRAL SQUARE (75,000 sq. ft.) has become an immediately recognizable destination for South Jersey and beyond. Central Square is now the home of Parkshore’s corporate offices.

In the 1980’s…

Parkshore developed several other properties within the city of Linwood, including the 50,000 sq. ft. office development known as CENTRAL PARK EAST, which is a national design award winner, and LINWOOD PROFESSIONAL PLAZA, a 25,000 sq. ft. office development architecturally similar to Central Square. Parkshore also constructed the traditional 609 New Road Office Building, also known as the PARKSHORE PROFESSIONAL BUILDING, with its distinguished columns and stately architecture.

In the 1990’s…

The CATALINA COVE condominium community (24 homes) was Parkshore’s next development, representing Linwood’s only multi-family waterfront residences, featuring gorgeous views of the Patcong waterway.
Parkshore then entered the Galloway Township office market with its construction of the beautiful 76 WEST PARK CENTRE office park (33,600 sq. ft.), located on Jimmie Leeds Road across from the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

In 1999, Parkshore restored and renovated an existing office building located at 802 Tilton Road, Northfield. Now known as the A.G. EDWARDS BUILDING (11,300 sq. ft.), this building was transformed into Class A office space custom designed to suit the offices of A.G. Edwards and Sons, Investment Brokers.

2000 and into the future…

In 2001 Parkshore expanded its Galloway Township presence with the development of the TOWNSHIP OFFICE CENTRE (13,440 sq. ft.), just one block from the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and close to the FAA Technical Center.

Parkshore also developed the SCHOOLHOUSE OFFICE PARK in Cape May County, a 20,000 sq. ft. office development on Route 9 and Schoolhouse Lane in the heart of Cape May Court House. Parkshore purchased the building previously known as Elementary School #3 from the Middle Township School Board and converted the existing use to professional offices.

In 2008, Parkshore completed construction of the Brickworks Office Park on Route 40 in Mays Landing. Located just west of the Shore Health Park, the Brickworks Office Park was aptly named for the use of this site which manufactured Bricks and other construction materials over 100 years ago. Representing over 28,000 square feet of professional office space, the new Brickworks Office Park was offered for condominium purchase and is now sold out.

Parkshore’s newest development is the Providence Professional Park at English Creek, representing 53,440 square feet of Class A professional office space. The Providence Professional Park is located at 3069 English Creek Avenue, just ¾ of a mile south of the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Condominium offices are offered for purchase or lease and the first two buildings are already sold out.

Parkshore Development Corp. takes great pride in its standards of excellence and in providing professional and business communities with innovative and beautiful work environments.
